Queensland councils will share in $500 million in funding for hundreds of projects, as the State Government made a flurry of pre-election announcements yesterday.
The local government infrastructure grants were one of 32 Government announcements made in the 24 hours before the caretaker conventions came into effect today (October 1), signaling the official start of October 26 State election campaign.
State Local Government Minister Meghan Scanlon said the approval of $500 million in council infrastructure grants covered more than 570 projects from the New South Wales border up to the Torres Strait.
Minister Scanlon said projects funded included housing, critical infrastructure like roads and water, waste, parks and critical planning for future growth.
