Artists from all over the country have answered the call and now 40 of the best will be judged in this year’s Sunshine Coast National Art Prize (SCNAP).

Sunshine Coast Mayor Rosanna Natoli said SCNAP celebrated some of the best contemporary 2D and new media artists from across the nation.

Mayor Natoli said following a nationwide call, 40 of the best have been selected as finalists, with community judging now open in the People’s Choice category.

“More than 450 entries were received from every state and territory in the country, with five Sunshine Coast artists featuring in the finalist mix,” she said.

All 40 finalist artworks can be viewed on the Sunshine Coast Council website with voting open until September 22 for the People’s Choice Award.

The finalists will also be displayed in a public exhibition at the Caloundra Regional Gallery at 22 Omrah Ave, from August 23.

“This exhibition provides the chance to experience some of the best contemporary art in Australia, right here on our very own Sunshine Coast,” Mayor Natoli said.

Winners of the Sunshine Coast National Art Prize will be announced on October 3.
