An advanced manufacturing company known for ultra-high-performance LED lighting is setting up operations in south-east Queensland to position itself for opportunities provided by the Brisbane 2032 Olympics and Paralympics.

VAILO will build a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility on the Gold Coast to complement its research and development facility in South Australia, with the aim of growing its presence in Australia’s eastern states and internationally.

Chief Executive Aaron Hickmann founded the company in 2012 and has transitioned it from an importer to a manufacturer, exporting Australian-designed and made LED lighting products.

Mr Hickman said establishing its manufacturing base in Queensland would provide the company with significant competitive advantages.

“VAILO will be better placed for the major investments being made into sporting and other infrastructure ahead of the Brisbane Olympic Games and will benefit from being part of an entrepreneurial, innovative and progressive environment in which to conduct business,” he said.

“The Queensland community is incredibly supportive to local manufacturing, while backing local companies for local projects.”

Mr Hickmann said VAILO was finalising negotiations to lease a Gold Coast manufacturing facility, with the aim of being fully operational before the end of the year.

Colliers Industrial & Logistics Brisbane National Director David Brisk, who has represented the company on their relocation to south-east Queensland said VAILO were firm believers in the growth this region would experience over the next eight years leading into the Brisbane Games.

“This strategic relocation will further bolster their local and national connectivity to their clientele network and provide them with the room to grow given VAILO’s impressive pipeline of work,” Mr Brisk said.
