Brisbane fans of Dolly Parton will need to start saving for plane tickets with a hit musical featuring the songs of the American country music legend skipping Queensland on its Australian tour.

Here You Come Again, billed as a “rollicking, joyous new musical comedy” featuring all of Parton’s biggest hits, has played sold-out seasons in the United State and United Kingdom and will head to Australia later this year.

Pre-sale tickets for Melbourne and Sydney are available, with waitlists operating for the other venues _ Adelaide, Perth, Newcastle and Canberra.

No date for Brisbane has been announced, as yet, following a trend of the Queensland capital missing out on major entertainment drawcards such as Taylor Swift and Coldplay.

The Australian season of Here You Come Again, which features hits such as Jolene, 9 to 5, Islands in the Stream and I Will Always Love You, boasts co-creator Tricia Paoluccio in the role of Dolly, next to Australian Dash Kruck (Little Shop of Horrors, Jesus Christ Superstar) and an Australian ensemble and live band.

The musical tells the story of a diehard fan whose fantasy version of international icon Dolly Parton helps him navigate life’s toughest challenges.

“With her wit, humour, and charm, Dolly teaches him invaluable lessons about life, love, and how to pull yourself up by your bootstraps – whether or not those bootstraps have rhinestones,” the event website states.
