Guardian Childcare and Education has launched a new education program that it believes will mark a new era for early learning.
The To BE Me program is the result of years of research and thousands of hours observing childhood development.
Guardian Childcare and Education CEO Warren Bright said the ground-breaking program would make it easier for families to see and understand how children learnt and developed through play.
It was based on an exclusive age-and-stage program that helped link observed behaviours in children to progress towards reading, writing, numeracy and other important areas of development.
“We think To BE Me will make a child’s learning and development adventure more visible and memorable than ever before,” Mr Bright said.
“The birth to school years are some of the most important years in a child’s life and this program will bring that experience alive in a really inspiring way.”
An important part of the program is each child’s My Learning & Development Book which will track their progress and learning from when they are babies to when they start school.
“This personalised book captures milestones and precious memories across their early learning years,” Mr Bright said.
“It will become a priceless keepsake of each child’s early life, and we are already getting positive feedback from families on how this is enriching their experience.”
To BE Me ensures each child experiences high-quality, play-based learning tailored to their interests and developmental stage. This is done in consultation with families.
Guardian Childcare & Education operates more than 180 centres in New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, South Australia and the ACT. The organisation cares for up to 19,000 children each day and employs about 5000 educators, teachers and other team members.
Mr Bright said To BE Me, which officially launches today, would guide every aspect of life in Guardian Childcare centres – from daily routines and room set-ups to the ways of teaching and play activities.
For children, it would mean:
- Continuity of learning from birth to school.
- Readiness for school through a balanced focus on identity, social relationships, literacy, numeracy, physical development and critical thinking.
- Building independence, resilience, empathy and collaboration skills.
- Encouraging children to track and celebrate their own progress as they grow.
“Guardian Childcare and Education is a premium early learning experience for Australian children,” he said.
“What we do goes well beyond childcare. We want the Guardian Childcare early learning experience to be something very special that families can do for their children.
“The To BE Me program is the jewel in the crown of the experience. It comes on the back of years of investment in creating inspiring centres, giving children interesting and nutritious food to set them up for healthy life habits and the implemented rigorous safety systems.
“We want children to know we will support them to become whatever and whoever they aspire to be.”
Mr Bright said Guardian Childcare also worked hard to develop strong relationships with families and attract and keep the best early learning teachers.
“We have long aspired to deliver Australia’s best childcare and early learning centre experience,” he said.
“We believe To BE Me will set the standard for childcare and early learning and we are very proud to be able to launch it for families.”
