Williams new Queensland Under Treasurer

A 30-year veteran in the banking and property industry has been appointed to lead Queensland Treasury.

State Treasurer David Janetzki said Paul Williams, the current Chief Financial Officer at People First Bank, would by the new Under Treasurer.

Treasurer Janetzki said Mr Williams, who also spent more than 25 years with Heritage Bank and the Bank of Queensland, had extensive experience both in Australia and internationally.

He said after completing his undergraduate degree at the University of Queensland, Mr Willams gained a Master’s degree from the University of Cambridge.

“Mr Williams also has a Master of Business Administration and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance.”

Treasurer Janetzki said the central agency of Queensland Treasury led the development of the Queensland Budget, provided fiscal, economic and intergovernmental policy advice, and now oversaw energy policy for the State Government.
