Adam Tucker is the new Executive Director of Opera Queensland.
Opera Queensland Board Chair Linda Apelt said Mr Tucker would work closely with the Board and CEO & Artistic Director Patrick Nolan to oversee delivery of the company’s strategic plan.
“The Board acknowledges Adam’s thoughtful and strategic approach to business development and stakeholder engagement,” Ms Apelt said.
Mr Nolan said since joining Opera Queensland at the beginning of 2021, Mr Tucker had embraced the many demands of ensuring artists, creative workers and audiences were looked after.
“I look forward to this new role providing him with opportunities to show his exceptional leadership skills in the national arena,” Mr Nolan said.
Mr Tucker said he was looking forward to supporting the company’s role of providing career pathways for artists and arts workers and to make a difference for audiences across Queensland.
“Growing up in regional Queensland, I have a deep appreciation of the profound impact that the performing arts has on young people in geographically remote communities.
“ I am excited by the important work of Opera Queensland across the state and look forward to supporting our company’s bold vision of building vibrant communities connected through the power of song and telling Queensland stories nationally and internationally,” Mr Tucker said.
Opera Queensland said Mr Tucker enjoyed a celebrated career as a dancer in Australia and the UK, followed by 15 years in arts administration and most recently as Executive Director of Camerata, before joining Opera Queensland in 2021 as Executive Producer.
It said alongside his work at Opera Queensland, Mr Tucker was completing a PhD at QUT, is a regular Peer Assessor of funding programs administered by Creative Australia and Arts Queensland and is Chair of the Advisory Committee of The Little Red Company.
