Australian golfing great Greg Norman will join the Board of the Brisbane Organising Committee for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games (OCOG).

Federal Sports Minister Anika Wells said Mr Norman, a two-time British Open Champion and Australia’s most successful golfer, would be the new Federal Government representative on the Board, replacing Member for Moreton Graham Perrett, who is retiring from politics at this year’s Federal election.

Minister Wells said the World Golf hall of famer was also a successful businessman across multiple sectors including real estate, golf course design and events, and hospitality ventures.

“Mr Norman is synonymous with Australian sporting success on the world stage and I look forward to drawing on his 40 years of global sporting experience and business acumen.”

Mr Norman said, as a “proud Queenslander”, it was an honour to help shape the Brisbane Games.

“In my youth in the 70’s I worked in the golf shop at Royal Queensland and now that course will be the home of golf at Brisbane 2032.

“We will prove our credentials as world leaders in events, sport and hospitality at Brisbane 2032, and create an incredible legacy for this state.”
