Lime e-scooters will return to Brisbane streets next week, after a three-year hiatus.

The original e-scooter provider in the Queensland capital, Brisbane City Council did not renew the contract with the United States-based company in 2021, with rivals Neuron and Beam providing services since then.

Lime will begin operating again on July 22, almost three years to the day since it last powered down an e-scooter in Brisbane.

Lime ANZ Regional General Manager Hugo Burt-Morris said Lime’s re-launch marked a new partnership with Brisbane City Council to deliver a record investment to Brisbane’s e-mobility program.

Mr Burt-Morris said Lime’s investment went beyond offering e-scooters and e-bikes.

“It’s about reimagining transportation for a more sustainable, accessible Brisbane,” he said.

“We’re committing substantial resources to parking infrastructure and safety education, laying the groundwork for a long-term partnership that will revolutionise place-making and put people first.”

Mr Burt-Morris said as Brisbane geared up for the global spotlight of the 2032 Olympics Lime was dedicated to playing a pivotal role in the city’s evolution into a beacon of smart, sustainable urban transit.

He said as the only operator world-wide serving the host cities of the next two Summer Olympic Games in Paris and Los Angeles, Lime brought unique insights to support Brisbane’s transportation needs leading up to the global event.
