A Brisbane electrical equipment manufacturer is Queensland’s Exporter of the Year.

NOJA Power designs, manufactures and sells switching equipment to protect and control the electricity distribution grid.

Operating from the eastern suburb of Murarrie, the company was awarded the overall honour ahead of 12 other category winners, after also winning the Sustainability and Green Economy Category at the annual Queensland Export Awards last night.

Premier Steven Miles said NOJA Power’s Queensland-made products were used to safely and efficiently operate electricity networks in 106 countries.

Premier Miles said NOJA Power represented all that was impressive about Queenslanders doing business around the world.

“From a small start, but with global ambitions the founders now export to more than 100 countries and employ more than 300 staff.”

Trade and Investment Queensland CEO Justin McGowan said NOJA Power had overcome a variety of exporting challenges in their 22 years of business and had grown to become the supplier of choice for electricity companies around the world.

“They are a true Queensland export success story.”

The 13 national category winners will now represent Queensland at the Australian Export Awards, hosted by Austrade, on November 20 in Canberra.

Two Queensland-only awards, First Nations and Women in International Business were also awarded last night.
