A new Prep-to-Year 12 school will open in Logan in 2026, with Brisbane Catholic Education (BCE) announcing its Foundation Principal today.

Anthony Elmore will be on deck next year to oversee months of work before the doors open on St Bonaventure’s College Flagstone.

The College, which will eventually accommodate 1800 students, will join BCE’s 146 schools across the Archdiocese of Brisbane, which ranges from Hervey Bay in the north to Coolangatta in the south. (Watch a special video flythrough below)

BCE Executive Director Dr Sally Towns said St Bonaventure’s College would be connected with one of the most reliable education systems in Australia and it’s opening would follow the opening of Notre Dame College on the Sunshine Coast in 2025.

“St Bonaventure’s will provide high-quality, accessible education for families in Flagstone and surrounding areas,” Dr Towns said.

“It will be a cornerstone of excellence in education, supporting the educational needs of this vibrant and expanding area.”

Dr Towns said Mr Elmore would bring a deep understanding of school operations and leadership having held leadership positions at St Michael’s College Merrimac, St Joseph’s College Coomera, and St Peter Claver College Riverview.

In announcing Mr Elmore’s appointment, BCE also unveiled the St Bonaventure’s College logo, featuring the Franciscan Tau cross.

Dr Towns said the symbol reflected penance, forgiveness and mercy, sitting atop the natural creation symbolising St Francis’ love for all creation and our commitment to caring for our common home.

“The circular shape showcases the eternal connection of family and community and the mountains, creek, and sun represent the traditional lands of Mununjali Country of the Yugambeh language people.”

She said the school’s motto, “to know and to love,” further encapsulated the College’s mission to foster a deep pursuit of knowledge and a genuine love for all of God’s creation.

Dr Towns said Stage 1 works on the 15 College Drive site would include the construction of new primary and secondary classrooms, a new administration building, library and a multipurpose sports hall.

She said there were also plans for an Outside School Hours Care service on site, run by Catholic Early EdCare.
