Qantas travellers can now earn loyalty points every time they shop at David Jones, in a major new partnership announcement between the two iconic brands.

As part of the Qantas Frequent Flyer loyalty program, David Jones shoppers will be able to earn and redeem either David Jones Rewards Points or Qantas Points every time they shop at the retailer’s 40 stores and online.

David Jones shoppers will also be able to redeem their Qantas Points across the Frequent Flyer program, including reward seats, flight upgrades, hotel stays, and other travel perks.

More than half of the 17 million Frequent Flyer members have earnt Qantas Points via retail purchases in the past 12 months.

The partnership comes as the retailer prepares to launch its new loyalty program, David Jones Rewards, later this year.

Qantas Loyalty CEO Andrew Glance said one in two Qantas Frequent Flyers already shop regularly at David Jones.

“The number of points members have earned through retailers has doubled in the past five years, and we anticipate it will double again by 2030, as we expand our footprint across a growing range of retail categories,” Mr Glance said.

The Qantas Frequent Flyer program was launched in 1987, and now two-thirds of all Qantas Points earned are on the ground through financial services, retail transactions, insurance, health and wellbeing, and other categories. Thirty-five percent of all credit card spending in Australia is on a Qantas Points earning card.

The new David Jones mobile app will be the central hub of the rewards program, allowing customers to link their memberships, track their points balance, and access a range of exclusive benefits tailored to their shopping preferences.
