Newsreel is a no-nonsense news site that publishes definitive, fact-based stories directly from the source of the information.
Each day we start with a simple question: “What do our readers really need to know about today?”
From there, we produce thorough and accurate coverage of the important issues, allowing our audience to form views and take action based on quality information.
We also partner with organisations who produce valuable content to connect this information to the right audience and showcase it in a high-energy, third-party media environment.
Stories published by virtue of a paid content partnership are clearly labelled as “Partner Content” and still must meet Newsreel’s strict editorial standards to be published on the site.
All content goes through a vetting and checking process and we only publish content that we believe to be accurate, or a view held in good faith based on genuine knowledge of a subject.
Newsreel content is free and aimed primarily at professional audiences and people who want to be informed about major announcements, happenings, research and policy.
Its main areas of coverage include business, government, education, economy, arts, community, people and broader thought leadership.
We aim to be engaging, factual, respectful, politically neutral and authoritative – just the facts for people who need to know what is happening around them.

Publisher: Shane Rodgers.
As well as spending many years as a reporter, Shane is a former Queensland Editor of The Australian, Chief-of-Staff, Deputy Editor, News Editor and General Manager of The Courier-Mail, National Editorial Director of APN Regional Media and Editor-in-Chief of Quest Newspapers.
Editor: Steve Zeppa.
Steve has more than 20 years of experience as a journalist and editor, including as Editor of MX Queensland, National Editorial Director of APN Regional Media, and Zone Editor across three titles at Quest Newspapers, as well as various digital and communication roles across State Government, not-for-profit and employer associations.
Associate Editor: Susan Schwartz.
Susan is an editor and journalist, and a communications and marketing strategist. Her editorial experience includes The South China Morning Post where she was the consumer reporter and later a lifestyle section editor; and reporting for The Courier-Mail and Quest Newspapers. She also edited a suite of lifestyle and fashion magazines at Asia Tatler Group. She has worked at the agency level in Hong Kong, and in-house locally for Master Builders Queensland, Colliers International and the Brisbane Economic Development Agency.
General Manager: Scott Jensen.
Scott is a seasoned sales, growth and marketing practitioner with a diverse professional background across various disciplines, industries, major events and organisations. His career has traversed agency roles, sales and marketing within multi-national corporates and as a business owner. Scott takes an active interest in the health, wellbeing and prosperity of our future generations.
