Five new flight paths over Brisbane have been released for public comment.
Airservices Australia released the options, developed by airspace design consultants Trax International, this week, as they look at changing where aircraft operate over the Queensland capital.
Airservices Australia Head of Community Engagement Donna Marshall said the proposed flight path concepts, which formed part of Airservices’ Noise Action Plan for Brisbane, had been designed to reduce the concentration of flights over several Brisbane communities.
Ms Marshall said the plan was developed to address aircraft noise impacts resulting from changes to Brisbane’s airspace, following the introduction of Brisbane Airport’s new parallel runway in July 2020.
“Now, Airservices is calling for Brisbane residents to provide feedback on the flight path options at our latest round of 11 community engagement sessions,” she said.
Ms Marshall said the options addressed arrivals and departures to the north and departures to the south and east.
She said the new sets of flightpath options also addressed changes required to facilitate independent parallel runway operations, which involved aircraft arriving and departing on the two runways at the same time.
“We want all communities across Brisbane to be involved in the discussion on these new sets of flight path options.
“Airservices is offering one-on-one consultations with our flight path specialists at engagement sessions to boost the community’s understanding of what’s being proposed.”
Ms Marshall said residents were encouraged to book in to sessions, which start on August 28, as soon as possible, with community submissions open until Sunday, September 15.
