Music inspired by the natural sounds of Mt Coo-tha will waft across South Brisbane in February, when ARIA-nominated violinist Véronique Serret takes the stage.
The composer and vocalist will raise her six-string electric violin at It’s Still a Secret in Montague Road on February 16.
Promoters said Véronique would perform her full ARIA-nominated album Migrating Bird, accompanied by William Barton on didgeridoo and vocals.
“Migrating Bird is completely unique and has been described as a musical conversation with nature that bridges the gap between contemporary and classical music,” they said.
The promoters said the album featured field recordings from Véronique’s time spent around Mt Coo-tha, in Brisbane’s south-west, where she walked daily “listening and learning from mother nature”.
“While Migrating Bird is her first solo album where she has written and performed all the tracks, she has two other albums – a solo Bach classical as part of a project with Sydney Dance Company and a solo electric violin of works composers wrote for her on Brisbane label Corella Recordings.”
