Paul Taylor has taken over as Chair of the Queensland Art Gallery Board of Trustees, which oversees the Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA).

A current Board member and philanthropist, Mr Taylor replaces Professor Emeritus Ian O’Connor who has decided to step down from the role he has held since 2017.

State Education and the Arts Minister John-Paul Langbroek said Mr Taylor’s appointment would strengthen the governance and strategic direction of QAGOMA.

Minister Langbroek said he was a respected advocate and supporter of the arts, joining the Queensland Art Gallery Board of Trustees in 2017.

“Through his deep commitment to the arts, exceptional advocacy and leadership, Mr Taylor has contributed valuable insights to QAGOMA in his position as Board member.”

Minister Langbroek said Mr Taylor had been a QAGOMA Foundation Committee member since 2012, and championed QAGOMA’s Collection Online Campaign.

“Mr Taylor brings extensive financial, business strategy and corporate governance expertise to the role as the Head of Investments Australia and Portfolio Manager for Fidelity Australian Equities Fund.

“He also holds a Master of Finance from the London Business School and a Bachelor of Commerce and Business from the University of Queensland.”

Minister Langbroek said as a benevolent supporter of many of Queensland’s arts and cultural organisations, Mr Taylor was recognised with Creative Partnerships Australia’s Philanthropy Leadership Award in 2022 for the significant impact he has made to Australia’s arts sector.
