Experienced urban planner Julia Scodellaro will be the next Chief Executive of the South Bank Corporation.

Deputy Premier and State Development, Infrastructure and Planning Minister Jarrod Bleijie said Ms Scodellaro, who will start in the role on July 1, takes the reins at a pivotal time for the Brisbane lifestyle precinct.

Deputy Premier Bleijie said the South Bank precinct, with a balance of public, commercial, residential, cultural, tourist and recreational uses, presented a real opportunity to partner with the private sector to supercharge the State’s tourism industry.

“Julia’s strong experience, knowledge of the precinct and understanding of South Bank’s opportunities and unique challenges make her the right person for the role,” he said.

Deputy Premier Bleijie said Ms Scodellaro, who has been with the organisation since 2013 and is currently the General Manager, Assets, Place and Projects, had previously played a key role in the development of the $600 million Southpoint development.

“In the lead up to 2032 and beyond, Julia will lead the transformation of the South Bank precinct into a new era of growth benefiting the local community and tourism industry.”

Ms Scodellaro said she was looking forward evolving the precinct and “creating the best possible experiences for those who live, work and visit South Bank, both now and into the future”.
