Incoming Seqwater CEO Emma Thomson will plug the gap at the new Games Venue and Legacy Delivery Authority until a permanent chief is found.
Ms Thomson was announced as the interim CEO of the body which will oversee the delivery of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games infrastructure.
Queensland Premier Steven Miles said Ms Thomas had accepted a role to become the new CEO of Seqwater.
“Before taking up this role, Ms Thomas will first serve as the Interim CEO of the Games Venue and Legacy Delivery Authority until a permanent CEO is appointed,” Premier Miles said.
“Seqwater has an Acting CEO and interim arrangements in place.”
Premier Miles said Ms Thomas, who starts in the interim role on July 1, brought decades of experience, after working in senior positions at Boeing, the governments of South Australia, Queensland, and the ACT, and most recently as CEO of Sunshine Coast Council.
She has also served as a non-executive director for Aviation Australia and participated on the Minister’s Defence Advisory Council for Queensland.
Queensland Parliament last week passed the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games Amendment Bill 2024, establishing an independent Games delivery authority.
Premier Miles said the search for up to seven independent board directors would soon commence, to be selected by CEOs of the nine Games Delivery Partners.
“The board will then appoint a permanent CEO,” he said.
