Experienced tourism leader John O’Sullivan has been appointed Chair of the Tourism and Events Queensland Board.
The Queensland Government has also announced that Krista Adams, Jacob Cassidy, Damien Massingham and Roderic Rees are joining the board.
Existing board members Kylie Blucher, Gert-Jan De Graaff, Robin Way, Justin McGowan and Patricia O’Callaghan will continue on the board.
In a statement, Tourism Minister Andrew Powell said the board changes would bring new leadership and industry experience to help deliver the Destination 2045 strategy.
He said the new board had expertise across tourism, aviation, events, marketing and hospitality.
Tourism and Events Queensland is the State’s lead tourism and major events agency, responsible for marketing Queensland to the world and supporting the growth of the visitor economy.
“Queensland is the home of the holiday, and we have a clear plan to grow our visitor economy and create more opportunities for Queenslanders,” Mr Powell said.
“I thank (former chair) Grant Hunt AM for his leadership and contribution to Queensland tourism during his term as Chair and acknowledge all outgoing Board members for their service to Tourism and Events Queensland.”
In a post on LinkedIn, Mr Sullivan said he was honoured to have been appointed to chair the board.
“I’d also like to congratulate Grant Hunt A.M. on a great tenure,” Mr Sullivan said.
“Grant is a legend of the industry and someone who I have always looked up too. It’s going to be exciting to get to work with CEO Craig Davidson and my fellow board members on continuing to deliver the Destination 2045 Tourism Strategy.”
