Karen Howard has been appointed as Chair of Brisbane’s South Bank Corporation as part of a refreshed board for the organisation.

Deputy Premier Jarrod Bleijie said the changes would help drive South Bank’s continued evolution as a world-class destination and maximise opportunities from the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Joining the Board are Sarah Vogler, Matthew Bourke, Liam McMahon, Elia Hill and Trevor Evans.

The South Bank Corporation Board is responsible for the strategic direction, management and long-term stewardship of the precinct, comprising eight State Government-appointed members and two Brisbane City Council nominees.

Mr Bleijie said the appointments reflected the Government’s commitment to delivering a fresh start for Queensland.

“South Bank is one of Queensland’s most recognisable destinations and a major driver of tourism, culture and economic activity, welcoming millions of visitors every year to Queensland,” he said.

“With the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games on the horizon, these appointments will help ensure South Bank is ready to welcome the world, showcase the very best of Queensland and transform the precinct to deliver a lasting legacy for Queenslanders.”

The Government acknowledged and thanked the outgoing Chair Susan Forrester and members for their service to South Bank Corporation.

The current board was mostly appointed in 2024 and, according to the State Government website, their terms finish in at the end of 2026.
