Heroes and Nashville actress Hayden Panettiere has died at the age of 36.
Her family released a short statement announcing her death. No cause of death was announced.
The statement said:
“It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of our beloved Hayden. She was an incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her – and to the millions who watched her onscreen.
Panettiere found fame starring as Claire Bennet in the superhero series Heroes from 2006 and 2010.
She also starred as Kirby Reed in the Scream movies (2011–2023), and Juliette Barnes in the drama series Nashville (2012–2018).
In her recent memoir This Is Me: A Reckoning, Panettiere revealed harrowing details about growing up as a child star.
This included battling alcohol addiction, surviving domestic abuse, and facing unsettling encounters and sexual advances in Hollywood.
She gave up custody of her daughter Kaya to the child’s father in 2018.
