Brisbane has a new CEO, with Kerrie Freeman endorsed by the city’s Civic Cabinet this week.
Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said Ms Freeman was selected for her experience leading large, complex organisations that delivered both community services and significant infrastructure projects.
Currently the CEO of the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network (SALHN), Ms Freeman is also a part-time professor at Flinders University and non-executive director of the Flinders Foundation.
She is a Doctor of Philosophy in Community Health and before joining SALHN, led health services across the health care spectrum in Australia and New Zealand, including in rural and remote Queensland.
Prior to SALHN she was Chief Executive of West Moreton Hospital and Health Service.
Cr Shrinner said Ms Freeman’s experience would play a critical role in helping the Council build better roads, improve public transport and keep costs down for residents.
He said Brisbane City Council was the largest local government in Australia with 1.32 million residents, a workforce of around 9000 people and a $4 billion budget.
“We have grown faster than any other Australian capital over the past decade and we’re eight years away from hosting the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
“I look forward to beginning our work together soon.”
