The best-known face of Australian elections, Antony Green, has retired from the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) after three decades.
The retirement takes effect this week and follows his decision last year to step down as Chief Election Analyst.
The ABC said in the statement, released through LinkedIn, that Mr Green had been packing up his stuff this week.
“Antony has brought analysis, insight and clarity to dozens of federal, state and territory elections,” the ABC statement said.
“The ABC’s success as the home of Australia’s leading elections coverage is built on the foundations Antony established.
“His influence is embedded in our systems, tools, standards and culture, and it will continue to shape our work for many years to come.”
The corporation said Mr Green’s impact extended well beyond the ABC.
“He has helped generations of Australians better understand elections and, in doing so, strengthened public understanding of one of the most important processes of our democracy,” it said.
“Thank you, Antony. Congratulations on an extraordinary career.”
