V-TOL Aerospace Managing Director Mark Xavier has been appointed as Chair of Aviation Australia, replacing outgoing Chair and former Qantas Queensland Manager Elsa Dalessio.

Mr Xavier’s background spans drone technology, robotics and artificial intelligence including leading software and aeronautical engineering teams and delivering specialist aviation training.

He is also Managing Director of the Australian Unmanned Systems Academy.

Aviation Australia works with employers to prepare people for careers across aircraft maintenance, cabin crew, and remote aviation.

Queensland Minister for Finance, Trade, Employment and Training Ros Bates said Mr Xavier’s combination of technology and training experience would be valuable as the industry evolved.

“Mark’s experience across aviation technology and specialist training will help Aviation Australia respond to the changing needs of employers,” Ms Bates said.

“As new technologies become part of everyday operations, training needs to keep pace, so Queenslanders are ready to take up those opportunities.”
