The State Government’s so-called Adult Crime, Adult Time policy will expand to new offences this week.

The Government announced on the weekend that the next round of 12 offences to be covered under the program would be introduced to Parliament.

The new offences will include rape, attempted murder, aggravated attempted robbery, torture and arson.

Premier David Crisafulli said there would be further changes in coming months.

“Victims must come first and Adult Crime, Adult Time is just one way we are shifting the focus back to supporting victims and driving down youth crime,” he said.

Youth Justice Minister Laura Gerber said an Expert Legal Panel would continue to consider additional offences for further expansion of Adult Crime, Adult Time.

“I want to thank the Expert Legal Panel for the work they have undertaken so far and I look forward to receiving further recommendations as we continue to strengthen our laws and put victims first,” she said.
