Heritage-listed Mowbray Park in East Brisbane will be revitalised, with tenders for the work to be called in October.
The revamped 4.4-hectare park will include a new car park, village green, bandstand, lighting and croquet clubhouse.
There will also be shared pathways, an expanded playground and a terraced amphitheatre.
The bowls club in the park was removed in late 2025, paving the way for the changes.
Brisbane City Council said the tender to deliver the park transformation was expected to be released to the open market on October 7, 2026.
A preferred contractor will be identified early next year.
BCC said suburbs around the park had growth by up to 25 percent over the past five years and this was driving demand for new recreational facilities.
Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said Mowbray Park has been part of “Brisbane’s story” for more than a century. It was a much-loved riverside destination.
Deputy Mayor Fiona Cunningham said she believed residents would be thrilled to see the park transformation moving closer to reality.
