Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium will undergo its largest upgrade in more than 20 years ahead of the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The facelift includes an Australian-first wraparound LED video screen, new terrace viewing platforms and entertainment zones.

There will also be new external screens to boost activation around the stadium.

Queensland Premier David Crisafulli said the program of work would boost capacity and enhance experiences for fans.

The upgrades took inspiration from fan experiences at some of the world’s best stadiums.

“Suncorp Stadium belongs to Queenslanders, and we’re giving it the love it deserves so it’s up to scratch for a growing State,” he said.

The enhanced activation includes mesh screens the size of two tennis courts at both ends of the stadium.

New terraced areas behind the goals at both northern and southern ends will have standing and seating zones.

The work will be delivered through the Queensland Government’s Legacy Fund.

Design work has commenced with construction expected to begin later this year.

Minister for Tourism Andrew Powell said the upgrades reflected Government’s desire to deliver major events.

“We want Queensland to be the events capital of the country, and the home of Australian sport and Suncorp Stadium plays a central role in our major events calendar,” Minister Powell said.

“These upgrades will ensure it remains a fortress for our home teams and a magnet for some of the biggest events on the planet.”

Brisbane Broncos CEO Dave Donaghy welcomed the investment.

“Suncorp Stadium has been our spiritual home since our beginning, and we welcome this announcement by the Premier,” Donaghy said.

“I’m excited about what this will project will deliver for Broncos members, fans and of course, our athletes.”
