A new $45 million library and home to Sunshine Coast Council’s contact centre will open its doors next month.

Division 2 Councillor Terry Landsberg said Library+ Caloundra, at 1 Omrah Avenue, represented a significant investment in the region’s cultural and civic infrastructure and would open to the public on September 22.

Cr Landsberg said Council’s Customer Contact Centre would officially relocate to the ground floor of the library on that day, shutting its doors on the current 77 Bulcock Street, Caloundra location at 2pm on Friday, September 19.

He said the new $45.4 million state-of-the-art, purpose-built facility, was designed to serve as a vibrant hub for learning, community connection and civic engagement.

“From 10am (September 22) join us as the doors to this new facility open for a celebration filled with family-friendly activities.

“Explore the exciting new spaces where books and collections take centre stage – from children’s favourites and bestselling fiction to local history and digital resources.”

Cr Landsberg said throughout the day Council staff would be stationed throughout the building to share insights and answer questions.

He said the facility offered the perfect environment to focus, thrive and connect, with BYO device benches, tiered seating, lounge and outdoor covered area.

“Families will love the kids’ library, where children can engage with the interactive STEM wall, relax in cosy cubbies, and explore a play-space designed to spark imagination and learning.

“This new facility has been designed to bring together library services, community spaces and Council functions under one roof.”
