More than 100 extra weekly train services will be added to the south-east Queensland network over the coming weeks.

State Transport Minister Brent Mickelberg the new services would benefit customers on multiple lines from mid-May.

Minister Mickelberg said from Monday, May 19, timetable changes would be made to accommodate more than 45 contra-peak services per week on the Cleveland line and more than 40 weekly contra-peak services on the Ferny Grove line.

“Contra-peak services are those which travel outbound from the CBD in the morning and inbound in the afternoon,” he said.

Minister Mickelberg said, as part of the changes, Doomben line customers would be able to catch a train on Sundays and public holidays for the first time from Sunday, June 1, when hourly services would begin.

He said the timetable refresh would deliver 111 additional weekly train services and improved access with a change in stopping patterns on two lines.

“Customers are encouraged to visit Translink’s journey planner in advance if they are travelling on the Cleveland, Doomben or Ferny Grove line once the changes take effect.”

He said the additional services were the first since 2020 and were more than all additional services added since 2016.
