The new Hope Island railway station on the Gold Coast is operational from this week.

Trains started stopping at the platforms on Monday. It is the second new train station in less than a year to service the Gold Coast and one of three to be delivered.

Pimpama station opened in October 2025, while Merrimac station is currently under construction.

Hope Island locals previously had to travel to Coomera or Helensvale to catch a train.

The completed station has 210 parking spaces, an entry plaza with lifts to each platform, a 40-bicycle lock-up enclosure, lighting, and CCTV.

To maintain connectivity, local bus timetables have been reviewed and updated, and minor timetable changes have been made at other Gold Coast line stations.

Premier David Crisafulli said the Hope Island station was a gamechanger for the Gold Coast.

Member for Theodore Mark Boothman said the fast-growing region would benefit significantly from the new train station and bus connections.

“Hope Island station will help ease congestion on our roads by providing convenient train services to the Gold Coast, Brisbane City, and beyond,” Mr Boothman said.

“It will also relieve pressure on Helensvale station, currently the busiest train station outside Brisbane CBD.

“The three connecting bus services include the introduction of a new route, extended alignments and operating hours on existing services to better connect Hope Island and surrounding communities, including Paradise Point and Runaway Bay, with new the station.”
