Brisbane’s public CCTV network has been expanded across the inner-city suburbs of Fortitude Valley, Spring Hill, and Bowen Hills, with newly installed cameras also at Mitchelton, Keperra and Alderley.
The $1 million security camera upgrades to the Queensland Government’s Citysafe CCTV network includes the installation of 17 new cameras.
Local Government Minister Ann Leahy said the completed projects were designed to support the council and police in reducing crime and improving public safety.
Brisbane Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said the upgraded CCTV infrastructure would “make a real difference in creating safer streets for Brisbane residents and visitors.”
“These new CCTV cameras will add to our existing network, deterring crime and providing police with better tools to respond quickly to incidents.”
Fortitude Valley had the highest rate of crime from June 23 – September 23, 2026, according to the Queensland Police Force.
There were 2852 offences in the Valley which were mostly drug-related, followed by theft (excluding unlawful entry), and good order offences.
Spring Hill had 436 offences, Bowen Hills had 283, Mitchelton 296, Keperra 96, and Alderley 89.
