Crimestoppers has secured ongoing State Government funding as it celebrates its 35th anniversary.
At a special commemoration ceremony at Parliament House this week, ongoing annual funding of $400,000 for the ogranisation was announced.
State Police and Community Safety Minister Mark Ryan said Crimestoppers Queensland had received more over 1.3 million anonymous reports over its 35 years, which had assisted in solving and preventing crimes.
Minister Ryan said the organisation had supported more than 120,000 charges being laid, resulting in more than 42,000 arrests.
“In addition, Crimestoppers Queensland has helped recover more than $660,000 worth of illegal drugs,” he said.
“Crimestoppers invaluable work is supported by more than 350 volunteers and 22 area committees.”
