Park Road will soon disappear from the vernacular of Brisbane rail commuters as the Boggo Road transport hub takes shape.

The Queensland Government has begun the process of renaming Park Road rail station, in the city’s inner-south, to Boggo Road station.

Transport Minister Bart Melish said re-naming the station would make navigating the network easier for public transport users.

Minister Mellish said the rail station had now combined with the Boggo Road busway to create a major public transport interchange, which offered transfers between the Beenleigh, Gold Coast and Cleveland rail lines and busway services at the one station.

He said the Cross River Rail project would also deliver two new below-ground rail platforms at Boggo Road, further increasing the importance of this interchange location.

“Customer feedback to Translink demonstrated a preference for a common name at this location.”

Minister Melish said the re-naming began this week, with initial signage rolling out, while further platform signage and computer systems would continue to transition over the next six to 12 months.

“Boggo Road is an iconic landmark and this is all about making the network easy to navigate for Queenslanders.”
