Australia Post has been recognised as one of the best postal services in the world, the first time it has achieved the honour.

The latest Universal Postal Union’s (UPU) flagship index gave the national postal organisation the highest ranking based on performance and development, one of only seven services in the world to receive “Level 10” status.

Australia Post Group Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Paul Graham said it was a significant achievement to be recognised in the top echelon of postal operators for the first time since the index was published in 2017.

Mr Graham said UPU’s Integrated Index for Postal Development (2IPD) ranked 174 countries, with other organisations achieving the top ranking including postal services in Switzerland, Germany and France.

“The Level 10 score indicates Australia Post achieved the ‘top level of postal excellence’ based on the 2IPD, which is the most comprehensive measurement of postal services on a global scale.

“This offers a benchmark performance score based on four dimensions of postal development: reliability, reach, relevance and resilience.”

Mr Graham said Australia Post was undergoing a major transformation and modernising the business.

“Achieving the top score reinforces our focus on global best practice, making us easier to do business with, as we constantly innovate to deliver exceptional service.”
