Hundreds of millions of dollars will be spent next year on a project to deliver faster rail to the Gold Coast.
Queensland Transport Minister Brent Mickelberg said a 2025-26 funding investment of $300 million from the State Government and $300 million from the Commonwealth Government would unlock pre-construction works on the Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail project.
Minister Mickelberg said the commitments come three months after the Design and Pre-Construction contract was finalised with the ActivUs consortium to deliver the Rail Package.
He said the $5.7 billion project would see the number of tracks between Kuraby and Beenleigh doubled from two to four, significantly improving service frequency and reliability for commuters.
“It also includes the removal of five level crossings, upgrading stations, and improving access and connectivity along the 20-kilometre project corridor.”
Minister Mickelberg said the project was one of many generational infrastructure projects to be delivered ahead of the Brisbane 2032 Games.
