The Birali Steiner School at Beachmere, north of Brisbane, will begin major expansion of its campus later this year.

The Stage 5 redevelopment will include a purpose-built science room with preparation and storage areas, a dedicated visual art room and a kiln room for clay work.

There will also be additional high school workspaces, new amenities and an outdoor learning area.

Principal Chloe Ann Francis said these new spaces would strengthen Birali’s capacity to deliver “a rich and balanced high school program grounded in Steiner education principles”.

“Central to the design is the belief that learning environments matter,” she said.

“Natural flow, connection to outdoor spaces, and purpose-built rooms all contribute to a setting that supports wellbeing, engagement, and a love of learning.”

After several years of planning, Stage 5 is expected to begin construction in late September to October.

It has been designed to support students as they move through their secondary years, providing “inspiring spaces that encourage curiosity, creativity, and practical learning”.

Work is scheduled for completion by the end of Term 1 in 2027.
