New Jobs Queensland board meets in Far North

The new Jobs Board Queensland has met for the first time in North Queensland.

Chaired by Jim Varghese, the 11-person board will provide advice to the State Government on future skills, workforce planning and apprenticeships and traineeships.

The board features the expertise of priority industry, community and employee representatives and is delivering workforce planning workshops around the State with Regional Jobs Committees.

They came together in Cairns for their first meeting to work with more than 100 local employers and training experts on future workforce priorities for the Tropical North and regional Queensland.

Mr Varghese. appointed to a four-year term as Chair, brings more than 30 years’ experience in leading government agencies.
