Australia’s annualised wage growth remains at 3.4 percent.

The latest Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) data showed Wage Price Index (WPI) rose 0.8 percent in the June quarter of this year.

ABS Head of Prices Statistics Michelle Marquardt said the annual wage growth to June was unchanged from the 3.4 percent rise seen in the March quarter, but was down from the 4.1 percent growth at the same time last year.

Ms Marquardt said the WPI rise of 0.8 percent in the June quarter was lower than the 0.9 percent rise in the March quarter.

“The share of wage changes greater than 4 percent has declined since this time last year,” she said.

“The smaller proportion of jobs with larger wage increases has contributed to lower overall wage growth.”

Ms Marquardt said the seasonally adjusted quarterly private sector wages rose 0.8 percent in June, while public sector wages rose by one percent.
