A New Zealand invasion of the Gold Coast in August will impact one of South-East Queensland’s tourism icons.

In the lead-up to the New Zealand Warriors’ upcoming NRL clash with the Gold Coast Titans, for one week Dreamworld will transform into Wahsworld, with a full-scale park takeover built for rugby league fans from across the ditch.

Dreamworld Chief Executive Greg Yong said a three-year partnership would see Australia’s largest theme park rebrand during the Warriors annual away fixtures against the Gold Coast Titans.

Mr Yong said the initiative aimed to create an immersive fan hub for the Warriors’ large contingent of supporters in South-East Queensland, transforming standard away games into an extended, multi-day fan experience.

He said the transformation would begin in the lead-up to the Warriors’ Round 22 NRL clash against the Titans on Saturday, August 1.

“Dreamworld will undergo a comprehensive aesthetic overhaul, featuring the Dreamworld Tower being illuminated in Warriors colours and the club’s crest displayed prominently on the M1 highway billboard.

“The promotion will also see Dreamworld mascots Kenny and Belinda outfitted in full Warriors kit, while the park introduces pop-up merchandise stores and New Zealand-inspired night markets.”

Mr Yong said Dreamworld would further support both the New Zealand Warriors and the Warriors Inspire Logan Academy by providing passes for fans and participants – helping make the experience more accessible and supporting grassroots pathways within the community.

“Wahsworld is about celebrating the passion of the Warriors fanbase, creating new reasons to visit, and delivering an experience that feels fun, welcoming and uniquely us.”
