If you’re looking to go nowhere on your next holiday, Queensland Rail can put you on the right track.

With the wet season open, the iconic Gulflander train is set to resume operation.

Queensland Rail Head of Regional Scott Cornish said customers could now again enjoy the charm of the historic railway, which followed the route between Normanton and Croydon.

“Known for its scenic journey ‘from nowhere to nowhere’, the Gulflander offers a unique and unforgettable travel experience across the stunning Gulf Savannah,” Mr Cornish said.

He said the service would operate throughout the year, with bookings now open for selected dates until October.

“With the wet season finally behind us, the Gulflander is shining for its 2025 track debut.”

He said the iconic 1950s rail motor, affectionately known as the “Tin Hare” transported thousands of customers last year.

“This distinctive train ride offers an extraordinary way to explore North Queensland’s outback, and we look forward to offering travellers the chance to create lasting memories.”
