Socceroos legend Tim Cahill will play his first game on Australian soil in five years, when he faces a team led by Brazilian football great Ronaldinho in an exhibition game in November.
Event promoters said Cahill would captain a team of local Australian and A-League stars against Ronaldinho’s team in the Joga Bonito Tour match in Sydney on November 1.
In a statement, the organisers said the game, dubbed Ronaldinho’s XI v Cahill’s XI, would be Cahill’s first appearance on home soil since 2019.
They said Cahill’s team would have more than 450 combined Matildas and Socceroos caps, with the complete squad lists to be unveiled in the coming weeks.
“I’m really looking forward to coming home and putting on a show with the legend that is Ronaldinho,” Cahill said.
“It’s going to be great to reconnect with some old teammates too and give the fans a great experience.”
