Let them eat cake at the International Cake Show Australia where you can catch more than 100 free demonstrations, cookie making and decorating, celebrity chefs, hands-on workshops and classes to suit all experience levels.

Highlights include the Battle of the Sugar Giants, where six world-class cake artists will create 3m x 3m sugar installations – there’s a Legoland with a Marvel Twist, an Enchanted Forest, and Alice in Wonderland setting, an all-aboard train with characters, a Woodlands theme and a rubber duck in a tub.

There is also the Ultimate Australian Cake & Cookie Decorating competition (with categories for beginners and kids), which gives entrants a chance to win $25,000 in prize money.

If it’s professional tips and tricks you’re looking for, then sign up for a Make and Take mini class, or book into one of the full day hands-on workshops.

Find out the latest trends in wedding cakes, watch the judging of the prestigious Wedding Cake Designer of the Year, or visit the Auditorium of Oddities & Curiosities which is packed with spooky nightmares and weirdness all created from sugar and spice.

Returning to the event for her third year is MC and host, internationally famed extreme-caker and TV personality from the UK, Rose Dummer who famously created a life-sized Paddington Bear for Queen Elizabeth II. On Sunday she’ll be showing audiences how she created the edible fine China cup and saucer she made for the Queen.

Most activities, except the paid classes, are free with the ticket entry; and children 12 and under free.

At the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre from April 11 to 13.

Open from Friday 10am-7pm and Saturday and Sunday 10am-4pm. For tickets, go to https://www.acada.com.au/cake-show.html
