Tickets are now on sale for the Mount Isa Rodeo with a big push this year to attract women and for singles to meet “cowboy and cowgirls” from across the country.
The rodeo, badged as the largest event of its type in the Southern Hemisphere, runs from Friday August 7 to Sunday August 9 at the Buchanan Park Events Complex in Mount Isa.
As part of a push to attract women, promoters are encouraging people to give rodeo tickets as Valentine’s Day gifts next month.
“Why settle for flowers when you can give the ultimate bucket-list adventure with your partner or bestie in the heart of outback Queensland?,” the promotion material proffers.
“From thrilling arena action, adrenaline-pumping rodeo events, and iconic red-dirt vibes, to VIP experiences, behind-the-chutes tours, and the super sassy Cowgirl Cocktail Brunch, this is a love story written in boots, buckles and dusty trails.”
Hmmm…you can’t blame them for trying.
For singles, the promoters are reminding everyone that this is a big event so “that’s a lot of cowboys and cowgirls” you can meet. No bull there.
The 2026 rodeo is presented by Akubra and supported by the Queensland Government through Tourism and Events Queensland.
The event has been going since 1959 and attracts riders from all over the world.
