A picturesque new 3km walking track with lake views, picnic shelters and green spaces has opened at Moreton Bay Central.
The $6 million project at the old Petrie Paper Mill site, surrounds the upcoming Moreton Bay Indoor Sports Centre which will be built for the Brisbane 2032 Games.
City of Moreton Bay Mayor Peter Flannery said the site would help cater for the growing population, with 240 people moving to the area each week.
“The nearby Mill Water Park and Play Space is already hugely popular with families and visitors, and the Moreton Bay Central Lakes Walk will complement that,” Cr Flannery said.
Given the sensitive environmental setting, which is home to an array of wildlife including koalas, possums, and birds, dogs will not be allowed in the area.
