The annual Diwali Festival of Lights celebrates a victory of good over evil, where knowledge beats ignorance, and light prevails in the darkness.
Today marks the official celebration of the Hindu festival, with the Brisbane festivities to be held at King George Square on Friday, October 24, 2025 from 11am to 10pm.
Join the Indian community as they fashion vibrant flowers into rangolis or patterns, light candles and share sweets and savoury treats from food stalls.
Visitors will be treated to a lively showcase of traditional and contemporary cultural performances, Bollywood dances, devotional music, and interactive activities for all ages.
The evening will conclude with a spectacular fireworks symbolising the festival’s central message of light over dark.
