Future Wallabies and All Blacks will be on show when The Rugby Championship Under 20 tournament kicks off on the Sunshine Coast in May.
Australia and New Zealand will be joined by teams from Argentina and South Africa in the free round robin event over three days at Sunshine Coast Stadium in Bokarina.
Sunshine Coast Major Events Board Chair John Williams said rugby union was a high priority sport for the Sunshine Coast region with a long-term strategy to attract elite sports, athletes and national teams to “train, stay and play” on the Sunshine Coast in the lead up to key events like the British & Irish Lions Tour (2025) and Rugby World Cups (2027 & 2029) and the Brisbane 2032 Olympic & Paralympic Games.
“We look forward to seeing The Rugby Championship U20 tournament playing out at Sunshine Coast Stadium this year and showcasing the region as an ideal training destination to such high-profile Rugby nations,” Mr Williams said.
“The event will be a great spectacle for Australian and international rugby fans, but it’s also a great time to discover the Sunshine Coast and make a holiday of it in one of the worlds most loved destinations.”
SANZAAR CEO Brendan Morris said the U20 Championship was an exciting investment and development strategy that would allow for a more defined pathway for younger players into senior and international rugby.
“SANZAAR is very much looking forward to what will be a highly competitive tournament and I would like to thank the Sunshine Coast Council for its assistance in supporting this wonderful new tournament.”

Format:
The top team after the three-round, six-match tournament will be declared the TRC U20 champion.
