Dogs really do resemble their owners’ physical and personality traits according to scientific studies, and you too can find your perfect match at the Brisbane Dog Lovers Festival from May 16-17, 2026.

You may know your Cavoodle from your Spoodle, but can you tell the difference between a rare Borzoi or Yakutian Laika?

These breeds and more than 30 others will be on display at the Brisbane Dog Lovers Festival which gives visitors the ultimate opportunity to meet, learn about and connect with dogs of all shapes, sizes and personalities.

Verified, reputable breeders and experts from official breed clubs will be there with some of Australia’s most beloved pups.

There will be friendly Golden and Labrador retrievers, to playful Beagles, and gentle giants such as the Great Dane, Saint Bernard and Iris Wolfhound.

Visitors will have the unique opportunity to see rare and lesser-seen breeds such as the striking Borzoi, the eye-catching Peruvian Hairless Dog, the impressive Pyrenean Mountain dog, and the distinctive northern Yakutian Laika.

The event includes popular attractions such as the Pat-A-Pooch zone, Adoption Zone, and new sports activities including Flyball, Dog Sledding, and the Australian debut of a competitive UK sport called Scurry Dog.

The Festival is returning after a two-year hiatus, and the expanded footprint includes new outdoor zones, and a comprehensive expo showcasing pet products, nutrition, accessories and technology.
