Next year’s Squash Australian Open will have a distinctive Brisbane feel as the best players in the world converge on the Sunshine State to contest an upgraded event.
The six-day championship will be held at the South Bank Piazza from March 11, with the titles recently elevated to one of the leading events on the PSA Squash Tour, boasting prizemoney of more than $300,000.
Squash Australia CEO Robert Donaghue said a purpose-built glass court will be placed in the centre of the piazza, providing a unique viewing experience for spectators, corporate hospitality and a worldwide broadcast audience.
“South Bank Piazza will provide a unique venue for all showpiece matches at the tournament where fans will be able to cheer on both Australia’s top players and the international stars of the game,” Mr Donaghue said.
He said the country’s premier tournament, now one of seven Gold-level events on the global PSA calendar, had also locked in a new Brisbane-based naming rights partner.
“I’m really pleased to welcome Easy Times Brewing Co. on board as naming rights partner for the 2025 Squash Australian Open,” Mr Donaghue said.
He said founded in 2020, Easy Times Brewing started as an independent Brewpub, in the Logan Road Precinct, directly across the road from the Gabba stadium, in Brisbane.
“We’ve been on a journey with the Australian Open over the last three years from the Challenger Tour up to a PSA Squash Tour Gold event and having organisations like Easy Times Brewing Co. to support us in the delivery of the event and grow with us is really exciting.
“The PSA Squash Tour Gold status brings the event an unprecedented, combined prize purse of over $US200,000 making it the richest squash tournament ever held in this country.
Easy Times Brewing Managing Director Greg Kimmings said the company was a very sports-focused and sports-centred beverage and lifestyle brand.
“So to partner with Squash Australia to help deliver this event is an exceptional opportunity for us to grow and help the sport grow,” Mr Kimmings said.
