Applications for funding under the Queensland Government’s Games On! program for local sporting clubs close tomorrow (March 18).

The program is already supporting 119 projects across the state.

The Government has allocated $30 million under its Grassroots Infrastructure Program as part of its 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games legacy activities.

Grants under the program can be used for upgrades such as improved lighting, playing surfaces, club amenities, shade structures and new or expanded community sporting facilities.

Funding is available through two streams:

  • Games On! ‘Field of Play’ – $20 million of available funding with a focus on smaller, community-level infrastructure projects that enhance participation opportunities and upgrade amenities.
  • Games On! ‘Partnership Fund’ – $10 million of available funding for new larger-scale infrastructure projects or upgraded and re-developed precincts.

The Games On! investment is in addition to the $7.1 billion major venue infrastructure envelope.

Minister for Sport and Racing and Minister for the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tim Mander said the program was ensuring communities benefited from the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

“Games On! is about making sure Queenslanders continue to benefit from the 2032 Games well after the closing ceremony,” Mr Mander said.

“We are backing local clubs with the facilities they need to help get more Queenslanders active, with easy access to sport no matter where you live.”

Registrations of Interest close at 8pm AEST on 18 March 2026, with shortlisted applicants invited to submit a full application later in the year.
