ANZ Bank will re-open its Chinchilla branch in 2026, eight years after it initially closed in February 2018 and was downgraded to an Australia Post business centre.
The decision follows news the Suncorp Bank agency will permanently close on May 29, 2026.
ANZ Managing Director Queensland and Suncorp Bank CEO Bruce Rush said the agency had decided to conclude its operations.
“Despite many months of searching and negotiations, together with the agent, we have been unable to secure a new premises for our agent that meets operational requirements,” Mr Rush said.
“We will work closely with our local Suncorp Bank customers over the coming weeks and months as we help to support them in fulfilling their ongoing banking needs.”
The ANZ Chinchilla branch will reopen in the second half of 2026 and operate five days a week.
Mr Rush said the re-opening was a sign of ANZ’s investment in Queensland, and reflected the important role regional communities played in the state’s economic momentum.
